Leonardo da Vinci Mobility - Incoming Our mobility and exchange programmes are designed to ensure that programme participants gain the maximum benefit during their stay in Spain. Programme participants can spend their stay in either Barcelona or in other cities in Catalunya, giving them the opportunity to learn about the cultural variety that the region has to offer. Working with our associates, we are also able to find placements in other cities throughout Spain.
Spanish language courses Students are taught by qualified and experienced native Spanish teachers. There are several levels of Spanish language courses, from complete beginners to advanced and professional level, to meet individual needs. Courses are usually taken at the beginning of the placement, and are of a minimum of one week, beginning on a Monday. There is also the possibility of preparation for DELE examinations, these particular courses are offered at certain times of the year. Work placement in local companies Our aim is to ensure that the needs of programme participants are matched with appropriate and available Work Placements. The process starts with the information we receive from the project promoter or from the individual. Students are all asked to complete a Registration Form and submit their CV to us. These documents are examined and companies are approached based on the information we have received. Once we have matched the student's needs with an available Work Placement, we enter into an agreement with the Work Placement Company that defines the role and tasks that the student will undertake. A copy of this is sent to the student before they arrive in Spain . Work Placement companies require students to work under the same conditions and timetable as their own staff. All students are monitored throughout their Work Placement, and in the final week the Work Placement Supervisor visits the student and evaluates, with the Work Placement provider, his/her overall performance. Work placement companies are situated both in Barcelona and Seville cities, and in their surrounding areas. On occasions placements are outside of the provinces of Barcelona and Seville , and are monitored on the same basis as more local placements. Placements and exchanges are organised in partnership with companies from a wide range of sectors (see sidebar for examples). Cultural Visits and Excursions Students have a choice of visits and excursions: guided tour of the city, visits to places of historical and architectural interest in Barcelona , museums, carnivals, festivals or seasonal fairs, and excursions to places outside of the cities. These activities help programme participants to enjoy other aspects of life in Spain and to learn about its culture and traditions. Student Welfare Probably the most important element of all of our programmes is the welfare and safety of the students staying with us. All student groups have a Student Welfare Officer who provides 24-hour contact and support to the students throughout their stay. Accommodation Accommodation is an essential part of the programme and we therefore give great importance to this aspect. There are different types of accommodation to suit different budgets: Self catering -- single or double room in a shared flat We try and distribute the accommodation in flats so that students of different nationalities are together. Flats have basic amenities such as tv in the living room, fully equipped kitchen, washing machine and iron. There is no phone in the flats. The kitchen and the bathroom are shared, as well as the living room. All students in the flat are responsible for maintaining it tidy. Home stay with a local Spanish family Home stay accommodation offers the student the opportunity to live as part of a local family, enjoying their hospitality, meals and social life. It is also an excellent opportunity for the student to practice their Spanish in the family environment. Those that choose to stay with host families are offered the option of either half board (breakfast and one other meal) or full board (bed, breakfast and two meals). Rooms can be either single or double. Some students take the option of having pocket money instead of the meals. Airport transfer and local transport Programme participants are welcomed on arrival by bilingual (English and Spanish) staff at the airport terminal. Orientation On arrival, students are given a welcome pack with information related to their stay in Spain (timetable, itinerary, maps, travel details, contact numbers, programme information, etc). Students will be taken to their accommodation and shown how to get to the language school or the location where the welcome meeting is being held. Depending on the length of stay and distance between home and school or placement, students will have different travel cards for their local travel. Insurance It is compulsory for all students to provide their own insurance arrangements to cover medical and civil liabilities. However, Experience Europe can provide upon request, details of an adequate insurance policy if one cannot be obtained from the student's country of origin. Certification On completion of the Programme, every student is presented with a certificate of competence detailing their Work Placement activities in Spain, and acknowledging the contribution they have made to the organisation they have worked for. If they have undertaken a language course, they will also receive a certificate from the Language School . |
